Big, striking in appearance, fast, deadly....and now collectible. That's the CUDA MAXX 5.5 folding fighting knife by the now defunct Camillus knife company (this was a production version of Darrel Ralph's CUDA design). It's D2 steel blade is razor sharp and holds an edge well. The titanium frame lock handle is a striking bluish purple and provides lots of real estate for gripping and non-lethal pommeling. The lockup is rock solid, the flipper deployment wicked fast (who needs an auto?!), and the fit and finish throughout is first class. Downsides would be a somewhat slick handle (necessitated by the aesthetics) and pivot-mounted clip. But the CUDA MAXX 5.5 remains both a large, effective, and fast fighting knife that also serves as an impressive collectible.
